The Proposing Organizations
The project is presented by an aggregation of 3 proposing organizations:
AGRIFOOD PARTNERSHIP OF REGION OF WESTERN GREECE
AgriFood Partnership of Region of Western Greece is a non-profit organization that brings together and involves 100 institutions and companies of the agri-food chain, located in the territory of Western Greece. It promotes local agricultural products on national and international markets through the development and enhancement of common and unitary mechanisms and initiatives, providing technical support to the agri-food industry.
The company is managed by a Board of Directors made up of 9 members. It is the only agrifood body of the region, representing in essence the total of the regional agrifood production. Out of its partners, at least 40 are agricultural producer’s consortia and agrifood companies, representing the majority of the food sector in the region.
This network of the agri-food chain in Western Greece tries to support local communities, so they can produce heritage varieties and therefore the Agri-Food Partnership is the main tool of the Region of Western Greece in order to promote the local agricultural products in national and international markets.
AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE OF ASPARAGUS PRODUCERS NESPAR
Nespar was founded in 1994 by a team of Chrissochori farmers in Municipality of Nestos and it is engaged in the production, preservation, packaging, standardization, export and marketing of fresh vegetables and fruits.
At the beginning, the cooperative was consisted of 40 asparagus producers and the cultivated land was just 762 acres. The main goal of Nespar was the smoother management and the better organized distribution of the fresh Asparagus of the producers.
Only 8 years later, having established a well-known name for Nespar Asparagus in the EU market as well as after many experimental crops took place around the area, the board council decided to expand their horizons by introducing the production of new products, in particular: in the fruit and vegetable sector and in particular: kiwi, pomegranate, plum and apricot.
The objectives pursued by the organization are the continuous improvement of the quality of the products, the participation in research activities, and the expansion of the areas destined for cultivation with the consequent increase in production.
INTERPROFESSION FRUITS ET LÉGUMES D'ALSACE
The Interprofession Fruits et Légumes d’Alsace (o IFLA) has been entrusted in its public service mission directly by the Grand Est Region with a contract renewed recently on the 1st January 2021.
This convention defines the engagement of the two parties in the frame of regional aids aimed at the promotion of regional products. IFLA was founded in 2003 and has been bringing together Alsatian producers, distributors, wholesalers and processors around the same table for 20 years.
It is registered under the name Association Interprofessionelle des Fruits et Légumes d’Alsace at the Colmar Court and it has under its protection and promotion measures 40 traditional specialties and 11 members.
